... from the rear sight assembly on my OM Ruger Blackhawk .45? Do you just unscrew the windage screw until it comes out of the rear sight frame?

Are there any "gotchas" involved, such as springs, balls, etc. that will launch into a low Earth orbit during disassembly? Thanks, Tt.

Don't know how the old models differ from the new models but on the new models, slowly unscrew the windage screw- the sight blade will follow the screw. When the screw is out, look at the top of the rear of the sight- there should be a little cutout there. The blade has a corresponding tit on it. You need to move the blade back in with a tool such as a jewelers screwdriver until the tit hits the slot then carefully pry the blade up. There is a spring on the left side of the blade that likes to pop out so cup a hand over the sight. To replace the blade, push the spring all the way in, under the blade with its tit in the slot. When the spring gets far enough in, the blade will drop down. With a finger, make sure the blade does move back and forth against spring tension. Replace screw. Takes about 5 sec to get the blade out, 2 to get it in.

Some of the Ruger sights do not have this notch and corresponding tit on the sight blade. These afaik, just have spring tension against them and you have to push them to the left all the way and lift up on the sight blade enough to get a small allen wrench through the hole where the windage screw normally lives, and push back on the spring while removing the blade. This is where the spring can launch itself, after the blade is out.

Thanks for the help, guys! I love this forum, it seems like there is always someone who's "been there, done that" and doesn't mind helping another boolit caster. Tt.
