I have what looks to be a hollow point pin for a Lyman mould. It measures 1.075 in length and .158 in diameter. At the base of the wooden knob the number 10 is stamped. Any ideas on what it fit?

I believe it's for a a 44/45 pistol mold.

Mr. Peabody, if you don't need it, I'd be interested in it, as I seem to have misplaced mine.

It could fit anything. The number 10 was stamped in it to allow it to leave the factory with the mold it was originally fit to. The mold blocks would have a corresponding stamp. The pins are not universal, and it may not fit any other mold correctly.

Greetings
And somewhere ouit there a mold with a #10 manufactutring number sits idled due to a hole clear through it...
Makes me wonder how often this happens.

Quite often, in my experience. I buy a lot of used moulds at gun shows and I would guess that between 1/4 and 1/3rd of the hollow point ones lacked the pins. Better fitting pins than the originals are easily enough made with a lathe.

I've only found a few orphaned pins. Only one was close enough to the right length to fit in a pinless HP mould I have, and it's just a little wobbly in the hole. It has to settle in vertically to line up straight. The ladle to mould horizontal then turn to vertical technique seems to achieve this OK.
