I noticed looking at the Ruger website that they have posted some new calibers. Some interesting stuff like the International in .257 Roberts, and the Medium Sporter in 9.3X62

Probably my two favorite calibers. I looked hard at the internationals, mbut there wasn't a caliber I like, so I ended up with a ruger in 257 Roberts. Had I only known...

Ruger builds such a milktoast rifle that I am no longer interested.
Most have barrels that are too short and the silly tang safety is an obstruction to use of tang sights.
I would enjoy shooting a #1 with a tang sight but with a scope it is just another scoped rifle.

A caliber I would like to try is the 450/400 NE, but I wouldn't want it in the Tropical rifle. If they offered it in the Medium Sporter I would be interested. The recoil would be approximately the same as the 45-70 with similar bullet weights and speeds.

I very much like the Tropical Rifles .They are my favorite #1
I wouldn't mind having the .450/400 but the brass is very expensive. I already have the .405 win which is my favorite.

The reason I mentioned this particular combination wasn't to start a "wish list," but because they are now offering the No. 1-H in 450/400 NE. Yes, the cases are expensive, about the same as the 9.3x74R cases which I buy for my No. 1-S, but they are low-pressure cartridges and last a very long time.

I also have two No. 1-H rifles, and like them. The 458 Win Mag is nice, but the 375 H&H is especially so. In fact, I think I'll take it out to the range after Christmas, as I have lots of ammo loaded. Thanks for the prompt.

I think I will have a 400 gr mold made for my .405 win. I should be able to get around 2000fps with it.

I would definitely buy one if they chambered it in .35 Whelen.
That is if it were a medium sporter.

I'd like a 35Whelen in a light sporter... with open sights

I have a 1B medium in 270 and it is HEAVY

a 9.3x62 would be kewl

oh, when I was buying my 270 in 1987, I'm pretty sure they also offered the 257 in the Int'l.

I like the heavier barrel personally. I don't care for the light model.I would prefer a 24" barrel instead of the 26" on most of the mediums. I guess that is why I like the weight and size of the Tropical. They are all like feathers compared with my 74 Sharps.

The .358 Norma Mag would be a lovely one for a hunting rifle.

If their throats are worth a hoot, that would be a fine cast bullet rifle with a heavy 275-300 grain bullet. My Norma loves my custom 300 at 25-2600 fps.

I only have one in a 416 Rem mag but would like one in the 257 Roberts.
