great gun. I think that is overpriced for what is essentially surplus. I bought one about 5 years ago for less than $300.

I bought an older west German P6(sold as 225 in US). Coming from glock and 1911's, me and the 12lb DA trigger pull did not get along. Mine also had a steep feed ramp and would only feed ball ammo. SA trigger was better but mushy with a good amount of pre-travel. Gun was sexy and reliable but not my cup of tea.sold at gunshow. I paid $275 as a surplus and sold a year later with 3 mags for $400. Once the surplus of the CAI imports dried up, the price has been up. I wouldn't pay $500 for one. If I was in market for single stack sig, a used p239 would be ideal.

Here in N-E Indiana the current going price of a decent P225 is over $600, plus or minus depending on condition and markings. The police version P6 is going for $375- $450, again depending on condition and markings. Spare magazines are $30 each from Top Gun Supply. Some shooters, myself included actually prefer the heel magazine release and would pay a premium over the American style mag release. At $450 with 5mags I would indeed buy it .

I don't like the 9mm, but the Sig is a great gun. There were some test run years ago and puplished somewhere or another about some guys who did some rapid fire combat type testing, and they all said that for the most part, because of the way the sig (These were all 45s, so it was a P220), that they could usually keep more shots on target quicker.

Personaly, I prefer the 1911.

I've never shot one but the P225 has one of the best feeling grips of any handgun.

My P225 has more rounds through it than I can remember and I have never had any problems with it. It's more accurate than I am !
I'm always looking for another (American mag release) to add to my meager collection.
Buy with confidence !

Have an old Interarms imported 220 with three of the heelclip mags. Wondered if the new type mags would work in it. BTW, what kind of premium?

All other things equal I would add $50 to the asking price for a heel release .

I am a rifleman, I dont even like handguns.
A few months ago I fell into a P220, its now in the safe. best shootin auto Ive ever shot.
printed quarter size group at 25 yards. The last time I shot an 1911 was during the Raygun years.
I have a whole new outlook on Sig handguns.
still dont like them, but I bet its one of the better shooting ones around
have only shot cast in it, maybe someday Ill see what I can do with store boughts

I've both a P220 and a P 6, and I like both. I am in the camp with Sagamore on the heel clip thing. I seen and had problems when push button mag releases dropped mags unintentionally. I prefer a heel clip for that reason, but it is not a deal breaker.
Lowest price I saw a P-6 for was 349.95, but that was B.O. (before Obama) the last couple of batches were in the vicinity of 450 dollars.
I would buy one for 500, especially with 6 mags. They run 30-40 bucks a piece, so figure two came with the gun, four extra equals 120 dollars you won't be spending.
Duane Thomas used a P 225 to win a state championship in IDPA a few years back, at least so he wrote.

Very good gun. Gun is reliable and reasonably accurate, about 2.5" at 25 yds is normal.
I believe mine has a regular 1911 mag release, but it is not here to check. Mine is a
P6 West German police surplus, like new condition for about $320 total at the time.
