Gas checks before or after?

I'm going to experiment with homemade aluminum gas checks on my 7.62x39 CTL312-160-2R bullets. Are there any opinions on whether to powder coat before or after the checks are on?

I coat with GC on, then no problem seating them. Others do the opposite. I can't tell any diff. in shooting.

I powder coat Size and the install gas check with same Lee size using a small hand press with the Lee Sizer up side down.

The gas checks are made from Cola can material with a gas check maker I also make.

I've cut and pealed a few GC's off after PC'ing and found the PC seeps or wicks into any spaces for .050 or .060 thou. into the seam between the GC and lead and helps glue the GC on.
