Anybody tried it? I'm gearing up to experiment with it- making a Hornet breech seating tool, laid in various molds, etc. No point really, just a fun winter project. The rifle in question is a pre-war German break open stalking rifle that gives excellent accuracy with fixed cast bullet ammo. I'm probably kidding myself since I don't have a mold that throws a properly tapered bullet...

Not a hornet but I've done it with a 32-20 Hepburn. Used Florist foam (green stuff) for a filler to hold the powder in - seems to burn up without adding any mess to chamber or barrel. Used sheet cork for awhile in the already relined barrel and ringed the chamber at the point the cork was and had to reline it again.

I worked up a design for a breech seating tool with simple compound leverage linkage. Pretty dainty, but I figure I won't need a lot of pressure to seat a soft bullet up into the leade just ahead of the case mouth. Probably build it over the Christmas break.
