View Full Version : Has anyone loaded ruger-only .45 Colt with Ramshot enforcer/AA 4100 or AA 5744?

I happened to open Ramshot's online load data today and apparently they have updated their data; last time I looked they didn't have any ruger-only .45 colt data, or at least none that I remember. Today I downloaded the .pdf

http://www.ramshot.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/WP_LoadSpec_7-2-13.pdf

It shows some interesting (to me) new data, both for enforcer/4100, which I've heard good things about, but also for AA 5744. I have loaded 5744 in my .45 Colt before but with very little data to go by, I was very cautious, and stopped WAY, WAY short of the loads they're showing, which are very close to H110/W296 levels for 300-grain bullets.

Has anyone used any of this (apparently new, the date on the .pdf is July '13) Ruger-only data yet?

Nope, I haven't but thanks for the link. I downloaded & saved the pdf file, didn't have that one.

Yes...I've loaded many 300 to 345 grainers with Enforcer/AA4100. It's a very nice powder for mid to upper end loads in Ruger/TC only loads. Never loaded any with 5744 though.

I think I'm going to try some 5744 again. IIRC it was accurate, even though it didn't burn very cleanly at the low charge weights I tried.

Very similar to 4759 I suspect which I've worked with on an occasion and it was accurate just didn't burn completely. I stopped using it as I could get the same velocities and accuracy with 2400 but with a much smaller charge. Enforcer, for me, is a good one for the in between 2400 and H110 when I'm shooting PB boolits.

Accurate had +P 45 Colt in their old data but I think it was mostly using #7 and #9. Also it was only loaded to 20k psi, which I found was very comfortable to shoot but had a substantial increase in power over standard pressure loads. In their latest data Accurate cranked up their pressures to 30k psi to compete with Hodgtons H110/Win296 powders.

Plan to try 5744 as I have it for my 45-70 and maybe 4100 if my dealer still has it.
