I bought this press to swage with. It was a spur of the moment purchase. I paid 50 bucks shipped.
It looks stout, do you experieinced swagers think it will suffice?
Did I get an ok deal?
It has to be better than the RCBS I have been using.

The real test will be how accurate and repeatable it is and how much leverage it has.

O frame presses are the norm because they are strong. That lyman press is likely threaded for 310 dies, not the standard 7/8 -14 thread.
The compound linkage won't put nearly as much pressure as a rock chucker or Lee clasic cast.

What he said.... I would have skipped this one for swaging.

Oh well, I know better than to impulse buy. If nothing else it will expand case mouths.
Did I mention I got a new 17 HMR Contender barrel too? :)

If the die threads are standard you can easily flare case mouths. No problem. Probly even derim 22LR as well. Maybe.

I'd restore it and sell it to a collector. Not sure how many of those Lyman's are about there is a good chance you'd get your $50 back and maybe a few more?

That's an old Lyman. Not strong, uses 310 style dies.
They work for reloading, but dies aren't going to be easy to get.
Definitely not strong enough for swaging.

It won't work for swaging. You probably can't even get swaging dies for it. But it is a good press anyway, and there are probably memeber here that would give you your money back as is in a heartbeat if you don't want to keep it.

The earlier model of this press would not even full length size.
You did manage to get the later model with more leverage but I still don't know about FL sizing.
There was or is a turret available that takes you to 7/8" X 14 tpi but that still does not change the leverage defiecit.
Clean it up and enjoy it for what it is or resell it.
Best regards
