Simple question:how do you do it? SHORT version, BTW, not long.

Powder--brand, charge weight, grain size...
Boolit--weight, design, mold...
Primer--?
Methods or other info...

In modern solid-head cases you can't load enough blackpowder to over-load the small, top-break revolvers. The better-made ones are fun to shoot and work fine along the trap line, etc. I have used smokeless, 1.2 to 1.5 grains of Bullseye, but no more in the top-breaks.

I use a soft lead 85-90-grain bullet, not harder than 10 BHN. Simply fill the case within 1/8" of the mouth with 3Fg black, about 9-10 grains, and compress the charge when you seat and crimp the bullet. RCBS 32-90CM bullet will work OK, but the #313249 is proper. Small primers are standard. Dies for. 32 ACP will work with proper shell holder, but won't crimp.

SPG lube with bullets sized .314, or 50-50 beeswax and Crisco. Ctg. OAL 0.90".

If you fill the case within an 1/8" and them don't crimp you will probably have the bullets creep back out, been there done that.

The .32 Long Colt is a different cartridge, but similar capacity and uses a heel bullet. Per the 1929 Lyman/Ideal catalog, the standard load for .32 long colt is 11gr of 3F in a .78" long case. 11gr just poured in fills the case to the very top. i compress it .150" and seat the heeled bullet. With the .92" length of he .32 S&W long, I would expect you can put 11-12gr of 3F in it and compress as needed to seat the bullet.

The .32 LC is similar to the S&W Long. I'm talking about the itty-bitty one that looks like a .22 LR that's been eating too much holiday food.

Pretty much the same thing. I used a Lee Dipper to load by volume, not weight. I really don't remember which dipper, but it was about 1/16'' of an inch shy from filling the case.

If you interested in some 32 S&W (short size) balloon cases. Contact me. I was saving them for smokeless powder blanks but would swap for 32 S&W long or 38 S&W web cases.

I use 7 gns fff for my snake loads. They are built like little shotgun shells using closed cell foam wads and topped by a wire butt splice (holds everything in place) with the metal removed. Not very hot but the snakes never notice.:Fire:
