Title sums it up. Just wondering what most people use the .311 sizer for? It came with a package deal and I wasn't sure if it would be to large for the .308 or 300 blackout.

Nominal .308 bores. It's the approximate diameter of the average throat (leade) into the rifling.

Cast bullets are generally sized about .002 over bore size. Very few 30 cal rifles will be happy with a .308 bullet.
I size to .311 for most 30s except my 32-20 which gets .313

I agree.

ALL my .30-caliber rifles (except "fat thirties" like the .303 British) get .311" bullets. That includes about a dozen rifles in total. I don't even bother slugging them. This includes over 5000 cast-bullet rounds fired in my M1A, which thrives on the diet.

I'd say you lucked-out...... just like winning a (small-scale) lottery!

I size boolits for my 30-06 to .311 or .312" if the bullet I'm using is large enough as cast. In my 30-30 anything over .310" and the case neck gets to tight. So it gets .310" boolits. In my 243 AI I run a .245" boolit and have need to turn necks to qualify they are not a bit over thick because it only has about .002" release. Which is about minimum.

If your sized bullet will slide into a fired case neck that is free from crimp then it's not to big. As the brass springs back a little after firing.

Thanks. I think I'll keep it for later. I'm hoping to own a 300 blackout and have a .308. Just no molds at this time.

Every 1903 and 1903A3 I've ever used has worked better with a .311" size .

I use it for my 30-06 and 30-30, also the 7.62x39 carbine.
If i had any other 30ish calibers i'd probably use it for them too.

Some are probably better with smaller boolits but with my crop of guns 311+ is the winner so far

For 303 British, and if you're lucky enough to have one... a real tight Mosin Nagant 91/30. I use them to lap out to .313 for my sloppier Mosins.

Great size for the 7.65 Argentine

While I have no doubt that 0.311" works quite well, I've had exceptionally good results with a 0.309" sizer die for 30-30, 308, and 30-06.

I size .311 for my 308. Tried .310 first, no leading but they didn't fly quite like I wanted. .311 fixed that.

I have 5 30-30's. The Winchesters are all fine with .311 boolits, but the Savage has a tight neck and is happier with .310 sizing, so thats what they all get. My 06 gets the .311 boolts.

MMM.... not really, no. The 7.65X53 takes a nominal .313. Most jacketed handloaders use .311 or .312 due to the lack of .313 bullets. For casting I have found one of my guns slugs at .313, the rest anywhere from there up to .3165. Not saying some that are a .310 or tighter, calling for a .311 sizer don't exist of course, just I think it's very unlikely you will find one; I haven't and have at some point owned a dozen of the 1891 and 1909 rifles (currently have 4, kept the best shooters).
