Should have put it in an G18 or an F/A AR-15 with 9mm conversion. Would have been a shorter, cooler video!

Why? We all know what is being brought up and discussed.

I'm an Army Vet. I know the difference between a clip and a magazine, I also know the difference between a gun and a rifle, with that said tell me in all honesty you have NEVER referred to a rifle as a gun, and how pray tell do you expect to find a rifle in a GUN shop.

I have buddies that like that spray and pray method.. I make ALL my own ammo (except .22 lr ) and I know how much work it is. I'm far more into making one shot count that 60 downrange fast... Just don't do anything for me. And with the availability (or lack thereof) and cost of ammo and components now... I don't know... Blasting that much down range is like wasting food during the depression.

http://youtu.be/mgs1ErAsz2g

Most 18c's in civilian hands are just 17s with auto sears, much like the one in the video burning 298 rounds....they are fun though....more so when you know people that own them and will let you shoot them if "you bring the ammo"

And since the auto sear is the class 3 part you can put it in any Glock.......might try my 10mm next time :)

Seems as if they are both very similar, but in reality we all know what one is talking about in 99% of the cases.

Regarding a machine gun

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_gun

Nothing at all similar what I can usually buy at my local "gun?" store.

went into one the other day and asked to look at some "guns", they asked what gauge.

Picky, Picky, nit, nit, nit.

Being as everyone jumps all over the "clip----magazine" thing, I seriously doubt there is much confusion in the meaning of either. Most everyone knows what is being talked about and those who don't haven't much of a clue anyway. JMOOW How's that for confusion?

Believe me, my calling a magazine a clip or vice versa, or a rifle a gun has no bearing on my voting record, or how I vote.

To even consider otherwise is just ridiculous.

The quote from above would be the hilarious remark in our shooting shack.

But you are entitled to your opinion.

Sloppiness with language, aside from intentional and obvious liberties for the sake of humor or effect, is a an indicator of sloppy thinking. When a country gets too many careless or sloppy citizens, and indeed has those championing the just nature of such sloppiness, it is doomed to be dominated by those whose citizens and governments are not.

The English language is a changing language as are all languages. Meanings of words change over the years, always have always will. We no longer talk as we did 100 years ago or even 60/70 years ago, don't believe it, read a Max Brand book or watch one of the first talkie movies.

Words even have different meanings in different parts of the country.

When was the last time you heard of a flapper girl.

As long as it's cool, remember the sloppy language from the hipsters of the 50's-60's & 70's.

Try to read a book written in the English language from 300 years ago.

From Wikipedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Stripper clip is a device that is used to store multiple rounds of ammunition together as a unit, ready for insertion into the magazine or cylinder of a firearm. This speeds up the process of loading and reloading the firearm as several rounds can be loaded at once, rather than one round being loaded at a time. Several different types of clips exist, most of which are made of inexpensive metal stampings that are designed to be disposable, though they are often re-used.

The defining difference between clips and magazines is the presence of a feed mechanism in a magazine, typically a spring-loaded follower, which a clip lacks.[

Read the last line, all this over a spring.

The sad part of this when the boys in O bummer land see this, there will be a STRICT restriction/possession on Electrical tape & extension ladders. Im going to run out and buy 25 rolls of black electrical tape today before the prices jump and ban and restrictions take place. My extension ladder is on Evil bay as we speak for $600 plus FRPB shipping.
What have we learned from this ? Gutters make great brass catchers !! And glocks don't jamm ![had to go here]

I thought we were suppose to use PURPLE ? In America we speak in En-grish. So many words can have the same meaning but I guess its the selection of the word we use which makes the difference to some.

When I speak, I try to speak intelligently, When I type I use words I can spell cause my spelling socks and im not smart enough to use spell check. [ Ex: Mags, Pill, Mach Guns, Ammo ] All simple four letter words !!

Aside from the argument on semantics, do you think that kind of a magazine conversion would even work? I suspect that the whole thing is just a joke as I can't see just taping the mags together would even feed two magazines.

I liked the "multiple magazine clip" that one reporter refered to in a story.
Later on I found an actual Multiple Magazine Clip, it held six ar-15 magazines for rapid reloading.

Besides everyone knows the Magazine is where we store kegs of gunpowder for our cannon.

YES, I am an Army Vet, thank you very much. Are you? I'm also a 70 year old man, and you are implying I should never call a magazine a clip. MBD

Actually give us an answer as to what REAL REASON it makes. Not your opinion but an actual reason, I'll say that most "90%" of us at one time or another use the terms loosely. To think or claim otherwise is pure folly.

Just what is a gun? A rifle? A shotgun? A pistol? Then what is a pistol? A revolver or an auto? Did the house burn UP or burn DOWN?

Want to get worked up about something, take a look at the spelling and composition of some of the posts in threads here.

You have never, ever called a rifle a gun????????????????????

Alrighty!

Really, if someone asked you for a clip for their Kimber 45 you would stand there dumbfounded unable to help them. Then after some thought give them a tongue lashing as to how stupid their ability at using the English language was? Really, that's what you would do?

I was, mistakenly perhaps, operating under the assumption that we all are good people...unless proven otherwise, I try to operate that way. Perhaps I shouldn't have included the word "good" and then you wouldn't be all wrapped around the axle.

Accurate language is very helpful in conveying an intended thought. Lack of it increases the possibility of misunderstanding. Some misnomers are so prevalent and in common use that they are less likely to cause misunderstandings.
The choices are open to anyone. I try for accuracy where ever I can, to make up for the places where I DON'T know or have the proper terminology due to my own ignorance.
Hopefully, no one's life is diminished in any way because of my ignorance.

I should make note that is 60 plus years of shooting experience, I'm not sure about the first 10 years. This encluds being a member, officer, and/or board member of 4 different Conservation, Gun Clubs.

Had a little spare time and did some research about misnomers.

Is it a clip or a magazine?

Do you refer to the marking medium in a pencil as lead" or by it correct name plumbago. Its a mixture of graphite and clay of course.

How bout "blackboards" many are green, red, or blue, then of course we have the old fashioned ones that are black.

Chalk of course is not chalk, but made of gypsum.

Tin foil? No wait, its aluminum? Right?

How bout the good old steel 'tin' can?

Do you still "dial" a phone number, or do you now punch in a phone number?

Got any catgut? Whoa wait, it's made of sheep intestine.

Is a peanut a nut or is it correctly known as a legume?

Strawberries, bayberries, raspberries, & blackberries, they are not berries at all but in fact fruit.

You see there misnomers all around us, and we all know what is being discussed and to what we are referring to.

Seems as if much of this just makes for many something to argue about!

Happy New Year.

Bohica793
12-27-2013, 10:21 PM
Other than the language argument, did anyone consider the fact that fully loaded this magazine would weigh somewhere around 15 pounds?

600 rnds * ~150gr per round = 90000 grains divided by 7000 grains per pound = 12.86 pounds + the weigh of the magazine itself.
