I ordered a 336BL today I am going to put a Bushnell 4x32 shotgun scope on it. If I use a Weaver base would I need low rings or med rings? I would like the scope to set as low as possible. Thanks

I have no idea. I do not own a 336, though I would like to.

I am not positive but you might need medium rings to ensure the hammer has enough clearance to manipulate. I don't like adding the hammer extensions to my lever guns.

The scope mount on a Marlin depends mostly on the objective tube. I use a low mount and a 1.5X4.5 Bushnell Sportview scope which I find to be satisfactory. As to hammer extensions? Guess its personal, but I use them with no problem, just get the right one. My older model did not take the ones for the newer ones. Read the instructions for mounting them.

I out an Elite scope on mine. I wanted to keep the open sights so I went with Weaver see through which does set the scope up higher than you might want. You have to clear the rear sight so unless your scope is long you will have to remove the rear sight to mount the scope. I like my set up. The scope helps old eyes. O shot a 1 1/4" group using a cast 311041 yesterday off a rest. Happy with that.

Merry Christmas

I got the gun in today and mounted the scope on it and the low rings worked fine with a Leo rail.

I use low rings for most scopes & rifles because most of my scopes don't have large objectives. Sometimes the rear sight gets in the way so I keep a sight blank in my parts box. I don't have problems with hammer extensions, being able to safely lower the hammer is a safety concern and an extension helps with that.

I think its a shame to put a scope on a lever, but low should be fine with a 32 objective. As for the hammer extention, i like them. I had them on all my levers, and never put a scope on any of them.

Young eyes. . . . . I used to think the same way.

Sigh.

You will if you intend to shoot a lever past 60 with any expectations on hitting what you are shooting at.:-D

Past 60 yards...or the age of 60?

If you are over 60 the semantics doesn't much matter, trust me.

The little Bushnell Banner 4x32 shotgun scope is one of the best scopes for hunting and less than 80 bucks to boot. I don't care for the saying it's good for the price. I really like this scope I have hunted with it on a 30-06 and killed a few deer and hogs and they would have been no deader with a higher prices scope. Merry Christmas to all.
