PD, you're not even gray yet, a fine looking lad! I think I paid the late Offut Pinion about fifty bucks for my 4 hole #68, but that was about 1968 or so. It's a real pleasure to see the boolits pile up when using a H&G.

I only have one Hensley & Gibbs mould; a four cavity #256 from San Diego, that I gave 40 or 45 dollars for at a tractor swap meet, of all places. I bought it to resell because I don't have a 41 Magnum.

Alas, I made a mistake and actually cast with it; now I am looking for a 41....

A friend of mine reached advanced age and could no longer shoot or cast. He had a H&G #130 and an H&G #68, both in four cavities. He asked me if I wanted to buy one. I desperately wanted the #68 (I couldn't afford both at the time, even tho' they were quite reasonably priced). I had to work, and a mutual friend offered to pick mine up when he bought the other one. When he dropped my mould off, he had decided to keep the #68 (nice friend:(). I ended up with the #130.

The upside is all three of my 1911's feed the #130 without a bobble and they shoot extremely well:mrgreen:. The only downside is that they don't cut quite so clean a hole in the paper. Now that I have a 625-8 Smith, it also shoots them VERY well. The H&G #130 is a distinct pleasure to cast with. The bullets fall out upon opening. I make quite respectable production with the four cavity mould. Wonderful moulds...

If you get a lemon, make lemonade:drinks:.

Robert, you have taken the first step onto a slippery slope. I bought an RCBS 240GC mould when I didn't have anything .44. It has so far led me to a set of RCBS dies, a Marlin Cowboy, a Square Deal conversion, an RCBS 245SWC mould, and a S&W 629. A Lyman .22 Hornet die set brought on a Redfield 2-7 and culminated last week in a CZ 527 rifle. Not a bad strategy for bamboozling SWMBO. Yeah, right, she is all knowing!

+1 on .41 Mags!

I bought two round shooters at the same time ........ went looking for one more S&W .44 and came home with a pair of .41's under my wing ........ a 57-1 (8 3/8) and a Dan in 6" blued.

.... go figure!

But as I bought them RIGHT ...... I can sell them or keep them ....... can't loose!

Don't need one, unless you decide to boil the lead.

I use the same ventilation system mentioned by Mark Twain in his Territorial Enterprise days. It is still called "The Washoe Zephyr."
