I am NOT telling anyone that the RCBS seater die is better than their Redding, or Forster / Bonanza, or Hornady, or Lyman PA die. I was just looking to figure out which extended shellholder that I needed for my own, inscrutable designs. This is what Midway thinks what cartridges go with each extended shellholder. :coffeecom

NOTE: This is for the RCBS Competition Seater Die ONLY! These will NOT work with a progressive press UNLESS you do some modifications. Not for use with RCBS Gold Medal seater dies! [though someone probably has a mod for that as well... ed.]

NOTE: John J has done a simple modification on a Dillon 650:
"I have one set up in 308 and one in 223 for my Dillon 650. All you need is a longer button head screw (1 inch) that holds the seating stud in place and a 1/2 x 1/2 round bushing (I used a delrin spacer). Take the screw out and lift up the die head. Place the washer on top of the seater stud and put the head back on with the longer button head screw" [ed.]

RCBS Extended Shellholder (SH) for use with Competition Seater Die
- Ext SH allows working with shorter cartridge lengths and in custom apps
- Extra-Long Ext SH is used in some case-forming opns and in custom apps
- Competition SHs are black oxide coated
- Ext SHs do not have a hole to decap brass during the sizing operation

NOTE: You may see a normal product number and a special order on the same shellholder. Try the normal product number first... [ed.]

NOTE: I did not add the extra-long extended shellholders, as they are used for case forming and other fiddley applications. However, if you need to either case-form or do something odd with your case, please check with RCBS if you need the extra-long shellholder....

NOTE: There are some shellholders that do not follow the naming convention: 17 CCM, 25-20 SS, 401 WSL, 577 NE, 7x66mm, and 9.3x64mm.

Have you actually seen the competition shell holders? Some like the Hornet are flimsy little things not suited for anything but seating a bullet.

I have three of the normal, extended length (not extra long!), #6, #10, #19. My dad used the 204 set-up on the RCBS comp die and he didn't complain (he has NO problems telling me if something doesn't work...). Wonder what the 25 ACP competition shellholder is like...

I beg to differ

NOTE: This is for the RCBS Competition Seater Die ONLY! These will NOT work with a progressive press!

I have one set up in 308 and one in 223 for my Dillon 650

all you need is a longer button head screw (1inch) that holds the seating stud in place and a 1/2 x 1/2 round bushing(I used a derlin spacer)

take the screw out and lift up the die head..place the washer on top of the seater stud and put the head back on with the longer button head screw

worked for my 2 rcbs comp seaters
