Picked up a rossi 92 in 44 mag during the black friday mayhem and i am looking for a tang sight for it in blued finish. Rumer has it taurus made a clone of the marbles for the 1890 and it fits the 92. I have looked on taurus and rossi's web site and cannot find them. Does anyone have a link to this tang sight or perhaps one they would sell or trade for? I am not looking for a marbles, i am too cheap. Thanks, Lab

I don't know if they still sell them or not, but I have two of them on my Rossi .45 Colt rifles and they work well. If I recall they are the sights they sold for their repro pump action .22 rifles. GF

Gray Fox, post #2, has nailed it accurately.
The last I knew they were available from Brownells. Also if you had a dealers account you could buy them from Jerry's.

My .02 cents worth - if you go with Marbles get the "Improved" version. The recommended sight is too short. The Improved model lets you change sight posts - you'll want mid-range if you plan to sight in over 50 yards.

My next rifle will have a Williams receiver sight - although not as cool looking as the tang sight.

How to mount a receiver sight on the 92?

How to mount a receiver sight on the 92?

Drill and tap on the left side of receiver, same as on a '94.

That's the one I got for my Rossi .357 and it works well. I added an "O" ring under the knurled nut used to lock the elevation adjustment on the sight stem. Mine had a habit of loosening with use and that stopped that problem.

Here you go. You want the one for the model 63, it has the most elevation adjustment. I think they are a great buy and have two of them and have used them for a few years now. Adjustments are accurate and repeatable, I run mine up and down all the time as I shoot subsonic and out to 200 yds. You will need to get the screw set from Brownells as the screws that come with it will not work with the 92.

So which one of these for the model 92.

I may order one and just forget about it until it pops up in the mail.

In talking w/ taurus on the phone while looking @ the website all the part #'s are the same for all the tang sights, the customer rep said they only made one tang sight. I just cannot justify spending 125.00+ for a sight when the taurus has pretty good reviews and for 34.00 ea.

They are not the same PN. The top 3 are 5-6273 (shorter stems)and the bottom is 5-6373 which has a longer stem. With lower velocity loads 1100-1200 fps out of the Rossi 92 you will run out of elevation beyond 100 yds. The bottom one 5-6373 will get you to 200 yds with 1100 fps. Your call. Yes they are windage adjustable.

PS. I have a new in the package short stem 5-6273 if anyone wants it for $30. delivered.

I'm wondering if these Taurus tang sights can be adapted to other rifles. Can someone give the mounting hole size and spacing, and the overall length of the base? For that price, it might be worth welding up the holes and re-drilling them for other applications.

Hole spacing is approx 1.175",base is 2.7" long and screw dia. that comes with it is .190". I used a 10 x 32 screw for the front hole on my Rossi 92.

Thanks. I've been looking for a sight that would work on my little #4 Remington Rolling Block. While the hole spacing is wrong, the length of the base may allow another hole to be drilled. The hole spacing of the #4 RRB is 1.900". You don't happen to have another one for sale do you?

Wonder how that screw spacing compares to 1886.

Looking at this again, I'm surprised to see the base is about 1.5" longer than the hole spacing. What is all the extra length for?

That's because the guy that did the measuring had his head "up & locked". Hole spacing is 2.175". Sorry about the misinformation. I don't have a clue why I said 1 instead of 2.

Ha! That makes more sense - thanks for the clarification. It seems this sight may be adaptable to my little #4 rolling block with hole spacing of 1.900". I'll keep my eye out for one.

You, me and most everyone out there knows that the saying "You get what you pay for" didn't arise from one person. It's not always true , but from what I've seen mostly. I'll have to admit that buying the Marble's peep tang sight along with separate screws for a $120.00 on a $500.00 Rossi M92 20 inch SS .45 LC may seem out of whack, but from what I've seen so far out to a 100 yds it's worth it too me. Just got it back from Gunsmith and time is precious. Lots of area to experiment with this setup. I plan on purchasing another lever action (Probably Rossi) and if nothing better shows up, I'll mount another sight from Marble's.

+1 on the Marbles windage-adustable sight, life is too short. A few years ago I purchased three of the Taurus tang sights for my Rossi 62 and installed the best of the three (i.e. tightest w/ the least 'wobble') & sold off the other two. Last year I gave up on the crappy sight and went with the Marbles instead, never looked back. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have wasted my time with the Taurus sight.
