Guys, I had the house alone yesterday, had marked the day off on my calender ahead of time -cast boolits. Just sat and cast until I was done. Got 45 pounds of boolits. Used two (2) four (4) cavity moulds, one a four cavity 454190 the other a 429667. My pot is a deep iron skillet on top of a propane turkey roaster flame. Yep, I'm a dipper. Just used wheelweight alloy purchased for 50 cents a pound at the re-cycle yard as these loads are for my six shooters and will be shot at close range at range sessions that consume high round counts. A very satisfactory day.

Good for the soul.

I can hardly imagine a universe in which I couldn't cast.

I can't spend that much time in one session either. Other obligations cause me to have to cast in shorter spells. But just the other day, I cast a bunch of 45 cal 265 grn boolits. Maybe 5 lbs worth of good usable boolits. I was giving them a good close visual inspection last night. Today, I'll be weighing & sorting them. Maybe later today, I'll do some more of them,,,! A few hrs here, a few hrs there,, and they do add up!

Silver Jack, that is quite a bit for a dipper! I usually go for 50# at a session, but that is with 2 bottom pour "20#" pots and running 2 aluminum 6 cavity molds. Typically done by the half time show of a football game; more than that and my fun becomes labor.

God Bless you! That is a ton-o-boolits in one setting.

I cast by count (100,150,200) and not weight. With my bottom pour and 6 banger molds, it goes perrty fast.

Now get out there and shoot those suckers!

I have the snow beat down infront of the barn, and I got a day last week when the temperature was up to around 32. I got my Turkey Cooker out. I have a 10" Lodge cook pot to melt in.
NOTE: I bought the Lodge Pot with lead in it. I guess someone was of the opinion that a Lodge was way better quality than made in China.

I cast several 310 grain Lee WFN-GC 44 bullets, and some 375 grain WFN-GC .475's for my 480 Ruger.
I was a little surprized. I had the gas turned up pretty high. I figured I would start having frosted bullets in fairly short order. Never happened. I had never cast at 32 degrees before either.

My back aches in sympathy! I am only good for about 15 pounds max, these days. Most of the time, I pull up at about the 10 pound mark, refill and flux the pot and call it good. 300-400 boolits meets my needs for most things, at least for a while.

I hear you. I cast about 50 pounds myself this weekend. 45 200gr swc, 45 200 rnhp, buckshot, and cores for .224. I split it over two days so not so bad. I generally do 20 lbs at a time, when I am coating, I cast more. It's a vicous cycle that never ends but I rather enjoy it. I find things to do while I am coating so casting and sizing is what I do. What's so funny, by the time I finish coating, there is another 20lbs of boolits to coat. I also prep brass. I got 1500ish 45acp I gotta load now. Another 1/2 day but sure makes the time pass. lol90811908129081390811

I too cannot do 45 pounds at one sitting anymore. So I fill my Lee ten pounder and empty it, then refill and unplug it. Ten pounds at a time doesn't hurt any of my parts, although there is quite a difference between ten pounds of 500 grainers and the ones that weigh 83! :)
