Hi guys. I'm looking for a good plastic hinged ammo box that holds .454 Casull. I have had a hard time finding something that works well. Seems that the square "holes" for the rounds are just a bit to tight on the ones I have tried. Thanks!

I have 45 LC in ammo boxes. They fit with no problem in the same boxes I use for .44 Mag. Is the problem the diameter or length? Your description makes it sound like the diameter doesnt fit.

I use the 'Plano' 100 round box. Model 1226 - 00
Holds the longest 454s I load. 350grers with room to spare.

Don't remember where I got em however. sorry.

garandsrus - my boxes for 45 Colt (MTM or Berry's ect) are short for my 454s. hard to close and likely to pop open If you get it closed.

Ya, the issues I have had is that the holes are a bit tight for 45Colt, and a bit short and tight for .454. I got some marked Cabella's that are perfect but I got them used from another forum so I was hoping to get more and of course Cabella's does not list them now.

I'll take a look at the Plano's, thanks Frozone.

If you use a slip top box instead of a hinged top box your problems will be solved.

Well i agree they help for length issues, but I am wanting the flip top style. Dropped the slip tops too many times to go that way again...

This is what you need.

Most important IMO is it uses a real hinge, not a living hinge. Living hinges drive me NUTS.

The only problem with these is that they do not stack with MTM medium rifle boxes. If they nested and stacked properly they would be perfect.

I agree about that hinge.

But that box doesn't fit that well. it's about 3/4" to tall - 454 will come loose.

THIS (http://www.planomolding.com/product.php?PID=1198) is the type I use. and they make a 50 round one.

you push some foam in the bottom and glue foam on the top. That's how I can have ONE type of box that holds pointed jacketed 7x57 and at the same time I can hod RN shorty cast bullet loads too. Otherwise they slip out and make a mess.

You do the same here. foam fixes ALOT.
