I've got an oold set of Lyman single cavity (small) handles that get very tight as they heat up. I'm wondering if there is a well known solution for this that I don't know before I start dumping some lube in there.

I'd use Bull Plate lube or similar high temp low viscosity lube. Regular oil will
burn into carbon and make it worse - may be what is in there now. Maybe try
putting some Hoppe's in to break down any carbon and then rinse with brake
cleaner and lube with Bull Plate or similar.

I really like Ester100 AC oil for stuff like this. It is very similar to a 2 stroke oil but without the solvents and what not. I find it lasts longer on a mould than 2 stroke oils for just this reason.

An 8 ounce bottle at the auto parts store will run around 8 bucks and last many lifetimes.

I need to give this stuff a run on my 1911 next summer. Might be good there too.

ATF would work too, and is high detergent, so it might help break loose whatevers tying things up in the first place.

Permatex Anti Seize max temp is 1600 degrees and should work for you. The high temp ability is what make it such a fine sprue lube, and is not a liquid that will run.

I use 2 cycle motor oil, place it with a wire or match stick a drop or two at a time. Works for me. I would disassemble them and clean best as possible. Solvent then hot soapy water. Check under magnification for burrs or tight spots. Ckeck tension on hinge pin also. It may be on tight side and heat is snugging it up thru expansion.

Disassemble? The bolt is rounded on both sides. I don't think they were intended to be disassembled.

Do Lyman handles come apart? I sure don't know how. Wayne, I am with you on this one.
