Had accurate molds cut me a nose pour mold . Then sent it to Erik at hollow point molds to make a HB pin. He put a Cramer style HB pin with insert to switch to flat base also. HB slug with ww is 735 grain. Havnt tried flat base yet but it is should be about 900 grain. He also put a bevel base on pin to make for easy loading in hull.

This is the accurate mold catalog number 73-900f

if that HP works as predicted, that is going to be one mean dude! Make sure to blast some feral phone books and let us know what it does.

Out of curiosity, what does it set you back to have a custom mold built? Looks to be first rate.

Make sure to post a pic of your shoulder after you fire a couple a dozen of the 900g slugs.

How do even begin to come up with a safe load for this?

Any youtube of this going ka-freakin-blam?

This is tested data from another member on this site. Only to be used in strong barreled slug guns.

There is proven loads (even a few professionally pressure tested loads) all the way up to a little over a 1,000 grains for 12ga. slug loads floating around, just have to look hard enough to find it.

IMR-4759 is one of the most favored powders for loading these really big and heavy slugs in 12ga. guns although other powders been used as well.

The heaviest slug I personally regularly load right now is 900 grains (a few experimental pro-type slugs even heavier but don't regularly load those) and I have pressure trace equipment (not to be confused with a professional pressure test system but does allow me to attach a strain gauge to any conventional fire-arm and get print-outs of the pressure curve of each shot) and I can confirm that it is entirely possible to build loads that are both safe and sane with slugs this heavy. (Okay, maybe a little fudging it on the "sane" part but the pressures are within safe limits).
