This is the buck that I got this year with my Freedom Arms 83 475linebaugh. open sights. I used a cast 400gr. RCBS over 10gr. Titegroup.

The first shot was at about 120yrds with a cast WW boolit, it went right through his ribs without even giving an indication of a hit. The buck melted back into the trees. I ran to where I had last seen him, ejecting the spent case and loading a Cast Softpoint.

I made the soft point out of pure lead up to the crimp and WW for the base.

I caught up with the herd and all the does ran off leaving the buck standing humped up by a big tree. I took a rest on a nearby downfall and sent the SP. At the crack of the gun the buck went down. The second shot was up a very steep hill at 80yrds quartering away. The boolit hit the shoulder and went up into the bucks neck breaking his spine.
I was shaking with excitement. Man I love this stuff! I took a moment to thank our Father and admire this great gift.

I got him back to the truck and headed home.

I knew that the SP had not exited, so I was barely able to sleep that night. First thing the next morning I was out butchering the buck.

The pics are of the buck, its hard to see in the pic but he has matching cheater points that stick out on both sides, about half way up his antlers.

The boolit pics are of the SP, it expanded perfectly, it did lose part of the mushroom from one side where it went through the heavy neck bone, I was very pleased with its preformance.

Good hunting and God bless

freedom475, nice buck and great pictures, congrats on the great hunt, just a question, would the first shot have been fatal? I have no problem with the second shot you took, I woulda done it too, just curious, Thanks for sharing you story and good luck on you next hunt.

Hivortfl< just a question, would the first shot have been fatal?

Yes. The first shot was into the lungs, but the hard WW didn't do too much damage.
I was taught to make the first shot count, then keep shooting till they go down, within reason.

Congrats. Nice deer.

But .... you are worse than a TV show. I understand that you got excited and all, but where is part 2, you teaser you?

I typed the story 4! different times,[smilie=b: every time I pushed submit, the*$#@!(>. thing would tell me that I needed to log in and I would lose the hole thing:killingpc

I was going to try it in 2 parts but by this time I just wanted it done so only the shooting and boolit info were left of the story.:):Fire:

I also found that by submiting and then editing, I could buy a little time. But I was unable to remove the title.

Yes I have tried to change/fix/allow but haven't had much luck.
