I hunt deer with a model 94 3030 made in 1939. The bore Was slugged and is .309. What lee mold would best for this rifle. I will be shooting ww Lead only . Thanks Craig.

I have had great luck with the 170 fp although I haven't hunted with it. That and the 150 fp are commonly used in the 30/30.

I shot a lot of 170's tumble lubed and run through a .311 sizer to seat the gas checks on an as cast .310 slug. This was before this site existed and I was initially surprised when the unsized bullets outshot my carefully sized .308 bullets. I went with what worked and only relatively recently did I find out why.

I've tried both the lee 150's and the 170's and my Rifle (1952 win 94) shoots the 170's more accurately. My be just my rifle, however.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but Lee only makes one .30 150gr mold, easy choice huh?

Didn't resize the only made one, so if my bore is .309 and their mold is .309 will the mold work or should I look for a different mold that is .310 or .311 because I have read the boolit should be about .001 larger than the bore?

I found out for the size the boolit is also depend on the alloy you are usen and at times the cast is bigger then what is said it is.It some of the times that what they say the size is when it is size to that and just alittle bigger then that by about .001 to .002 but not all the time.hope this will help I also have that same mold but have not cast with it yet so i do not know if it will be alittle bigger then that is stated .You can call the company and ask them about that and then you will know I ahve in the past about a mold from RCBS that I was not sure of and they let me know what I wanted and i know Lee will do the same.

I have the Lee 309-150 which with straight WW alloy comes out of the mold at .3095, which MIGHT shoot fine in your 94. As mentioned your alloy will make a difference in boolit size. The Lee molds are cheap but if you only want one mold then I would use one of the custom mold makers from the Vendor Section of this site who will give you what you need based on the alloy you use. The Lee molds for .32 stuff can be used for plinking and sized to your bore as they are .312

It should work just fine . Try it and see. My 170 gr. lee's , sized to .309 work just fine in my 30-30 model 94 Winchester. When I started casting, sizing and reloading for the 30-30, I was sizing them .308 thinking the sizing die was .309....last year I purchased a .309 die and to be honest haven't noticed any increase in accuracy...one day I will get around to checking the bore diameter.
For hunting, cut that wheel weight alloy 50/50 with lead or range scrap. It seems to work better and stretches that hard to come by WW metal.
