I've ordered the NOE mold for the 378 275gr GC bullet to shoot in my .375H&H Whitworth rifle.
Is anyone shooting this bullet? and what diameter are you sizing it to?

Thanks for lookin'

I use .377 for my M70 with the 375449 and 375248. I have loaded for several other .375 H&Hs, including a couple Whitworths, and it worked fine. I've slugged a couple in the past and they all came out .375 (go figure) so I just go with .377.

Hi Rick, would love to see a picture of your Whitworth if you have the time, 375 is an awesome caliber.

Looks like I need to find a Lyman or RCBS sizer for .378" since that's apparently how big the mold is supposed to cast and get to making boolits. If that doesn't work I'll try .377" or .379".

Changling,

I found the rifle at a gun show in PA four or five years ago and it spoke to me. Someone has taken the time to re-contour the forend and added a receiver sight. They've obviously hunted it since the stock has a few beauty marks and looks to have spent some quality time afield. The dealer said he thought he picked it up at an estate sale so it's hard to tell what stories it could tell.

I've added an XS front sight since this photo was taken and I used it this year to drop a very nice six point at about 80 yards.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm itching to get the mold in and start working with this little rifle.

Rick that is a beauty. I really like the looks of a classic rifle like this. It speaks to me also in the picture. I can only imagine how it would speak if I saw it for real.

See how big a bullet will fit in a fired case. Most 375 chambers have throats that start really big, and as such will work well with whatever will fit in a fired case, usually .377" - .378".

Lyman 375449 sized at .378 in Rem 700. Can't go larger, as it's as cast diameter. Performs well.

Thanks guys!

Based on what everyone said here and my experience with some .377" boolits in this rifle I took a SWAG and bought a .378" sizer. The boolit barely fits in a fired case at .378" and as cast at .3795ish" it won't go.

I had a couple of loads yesterday that had boolit holes almost touching at 50 yards and I'm going to revisit those at my next range outing.

NOE sure makes a nice mold:

90631

I didn't make it to the range till almost sunset, it was 31 degrees, I was only using a bag under the forearm and various other excuses

90630

But I'll take it! Those were at 50 yards using a coarse peep sight, and were shots 12,13, and 14 without cleaning the bore. I'm running them with four grains less Varget than my 300gr Hornady RNSP/FMJ loads so they're definitely not "powder puff" loads and hit an inch lower than the j word loads at 50 yards.

I've still got a doe tag and a week of season left these may see some field use...

I ordered a .377 pass through sizer from Lee when it was $35 for a custom sizer on line. I already had a 379 from ranchdog for my 38-55 that I got when I bought my RD mold for my Marlin. I shoot the same cast bullet in my CZ 375 H&H as in my 38-55. I just size the bullet for the rifle I want to shoot it in. Note that I have used the 379 in the H&H with no ill effects as well.
