Anyone experimented with this mold in a garand? I'm trying to find out others experience with it. Would it even be worth the effort?
I'm trying not to buy another mold (yeah right).
I want something that will cycle the action. All I have right now are the lee 312-155&160 in 30 cal.

I'd really like the lyman 311299, but I'm trying to sell a few things to pay for it, and my Garand should be here tues. And the funds and mold won't :)

Think I can get by for a while?

#311299 works well in the Garand and will cycle reliably with 35-36 grains of 4895, 4064, RL15 or Varget, using 1.0 grain Dacron fill over tge powder charge. The Lee. 311-230 Blackout bullet needs faster than a 10" twist to stabilize and will foul your gas piston, plug and cylinder if loaded heavily enough to cycle. Stick to #311299 and you will be happy.

You can try these charges with the C.312-155-2R.

Remember that this boolit (230 Lee) will allow a gas check to be attached and not foul any worse that the 311299. Also note that I shoot a heavier boolit that is the same length in a 1-10" 30-06 and it stabilizes perfectly.
