Found this site last night and thought it should be significant to many ...
With Harter's input as to his family history/involvement in Pearl Harbor , so much to be proud of on this sad day in history..
Reading the thread here on the Naval 16 inch guns got my curiosity up as I had already posted some pics and links .
I came across this site , it seems they have been storing this particular cannon with others at the Hawthorne depot all these years ...
Give credit to some individuals with foresight ...
apparently it came off of the USS Missouri ... it was in place at the signing of Japan's surrender.
Removed for some reason later on ...and now to be displayed in remembrance .
On this day of "infamy" ... to a memorial of the end of such a costly conflict in our country's history.
