A few months back I posted a thread announcing my fortunate acquisition of a nice, but not mint, 8 3/8 inch M-29-2. It came with the presentation box, which was a bit scratched, but still in nice shape, except for the blue, plastic insert on the bottom. The rear sight has broken a hole in it, but it still looks ok, until you remove the gun. Anyways, the gun itself looks swell, there is a drag ring on the cylinder and a bit of wear on the muzzle, almost as if holster-wear, but the bluing is otherwise excellent. It shoots extremely well. I haven't run any hot loads through it--I've a Red Hawk for that. But 17.5 grains of 2400 under a 429-421 gives me a hair over 1000 FPS, enough push to let me now I'm shooting a gun, but not so much to bother my elbows. It really dotes on the NOE 230 grain WC. 5.0 grains of Red Dot in a magnum case, or 4.5 in a Special case makes for an incredibly accurate plinker out to 25 yards at least. (Haven't tried it any further out.)
How I wish I could have had this 15 years ago when I could still see the sights clearly! Anyway, here is a picture of it.
