Anybody ever use a large magnum primer in place of a standard large pistol primer in 45 acp? I mistakenly bought magnum primers, can I still use them or should I try and return them for regular LPP's?

Used them before. Just drop the charge down and work back up for safety.

use them as most places will not take them back after you purchase them

I use them all the time just reduce the load to start, never had any problems that looked like high pressure.

I use either Large Standard or Large Magnum primers in my 45acp loads; whatever happens to be on sale… In fact, I recently bought some Winchester Large Pistol Primers that were Standard or Magnum, guess they were universal large pistol primers, lol

About 6 years ago i picked up 30,000 Fed LPM primers up for $15.00 per K ,i really did not need that many mag primers but the deal was too good to pass up ! besides for there normal usage in mag pistols i worked up a really accurate load in my 45 ACP handguns using 5.0 grs of the now disconued WSL powder [ NOT A MAX LOAD] with a std Fed lp primer with a Saeco #068 and #062 cast bullets ,I tried the same load but with Fed lpm primers accuracy was alomost the same about 1/4 " bigger at 25 yards for a 25 shot group from the bench useing a red dot sight. well i only have about 5k of the Fed lmp primer left so i guess you could say they worked well.
