Anyone have a good resource for ruger only 45 colt data? The only place I have been able to find anything is from the articles on custom sixguns page.

Lyman 47th and Lyman Cast Bullet Manuals both have Ruger, TC and XP100 load data for 45C

Sorry to be a weenie, but did you make any effort to find this commonly available data? "Modern Reloading" or Speer Manual or Hodgdon site, Accurate Site, Barnes, Nosler, google etc.

Here is link to my google search with plenty of data

https://www.google.com/search?q=ruger+only+45+colt+loads&oq=ruger+only&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.6243j0j8&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8

My old Speer and Hornady reloading manuals list 45 Colt "Ruger Only" loads. These books are from the 80's.

These commonly available data are to be found in almost all reloading manuals, and the Hodgdon web site.

I'm having a hard time finding load data also. While all these links help, they don't show the bullet/powder combination I'm looking for. Most are jacketed bullets or lead SWC. I don't mean to hijack the thread but I want to find published load data for a 255 gr Lee RFN and Hodgdon H110. I don't want to go to a 300gr bullet. I can't get the velocity I want from Unique or the fast burning powders.

One has to search. When I started reloading 44 years ago there was a lot less data than now.
It is out there like Hodgdons data that goes up to way over 300 gr bullets.
Search and study.
No excuse nowadays

Use the data for the 255 swc and work to where you want to be.
260gr cast H110 25.5-27.0gr. Straight from Linebaughs article.

Not sure what else you are looking for, but we will try and help.

Type in hodgdon load data in Google and go to their site. I use mostly hodgdon powders and use this for current info. You can also email a copy and print it out.

I use the 45 colt "mid level loadings" for my smith 25 mountain gun.

I love how every time someone asks a question on here there's someone looking to pad there ego and act like your stupid and didn't search for the answer first. Hope you feel cooler now.

I did google ruger only loads and didn't come up with hardly anything. I mention reading some load data on custom sixguns articles by John Linebaugh. I also have the Hornady, Sierra, and Lyman cast bullet loading manuals which just have standard pressure 45 colt data. I was really looking for some load data using 2400 powder.

Thanks to all those who helped out. And for the others I am glad I could give you a ride on your high horse for the day.

What powder do you want to use? I have the speer 1979 or 1980 #10 manual I could lookup loads for you and PM them.

Reloading manual #10 Ruger and Contender only loads 2400. These loads all list magnum primers per manual 200 gr hollow point starting load 18.3 max load20.3 next 225 hollow point starting load 17.5 max load 19.5 next load 250 swc starting load 17.2 max load 18.7 last load 260gr hollow point starting load 17.0 max load 19.0 grs. These loads are out of the 1979 first printing of the Speer manual #10. the hollow points are all jacketed ammo the Swc isn,t. Please use this with caution as they are as stated in this manual. I hope this helps good shooting.

"I love how every time someone asks a question on here there's someone looking to pad there ego and act like your stupid and didn't search for the answer first. Hope you feel cooler now."

Why not start by reading this thread/sticky
"Why some new members will do better than others here."
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?222520-Why-some-new-members-will-do-better-than-others-here

Whine if you want, but the first page of my simple google search had the following:
http://www.customsixguns.com/writings/dissolving_the_myth.htm
http://singleactions.proboards.com/thread/7116
http://www.realguns.com/archives/119.htm
http://www.handloads.org/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=45%20Colt%20+P&Weight=All&type=Handgun&Order=Powder&Source=

That is a boat load of data that took about 10 seconds to locate on the first page of a google search. Your post #15 should have been your O/P. You need +P 2400 data and you listed all the sources you checked. Blanket questions like "I need Ruger Only Data" are annoying and make it seem that is the last thing you need. If it took me 10 seconds to find it, I call B.S.. How about a question like "I have some 2400 and need some Ruger only loads for my 300 grain my Lee C452 300 grain RF." Blanket questions are wet blankets. If you care about being here act like you care.

OP, I can somewhat understand your frustration; part of the answer lies in learning to interpolate load data - if you find data for a projectile of a given weight, but jacketed, if you load a similar-weight cast bullet to the same depth into the case, you'll almost always be safe, and will get better velocity to boot. If you read enough of the links pointed out above you'll quickly get a feel for what you can and can not do with your rugers. One thing I'll point out: when trying to interpolate data, it is VITAL that you keep in mind the depth that any given bullet is seated to, so that you know what the effective case capacity is for that particular load. For instance, with some bullets (Lee 452-300-rf is one I have used) there are two crimp grooves. A load that is safe crimped shallow may not be safe if you seat down to the deeper groove. And if you switch later to a bullet that takes advantage of the full cylinder length of the ruger, you'll have to work up again as long seating will drop your pressure and velocity significantly.

When I started casting a few months ago, then bought a ruger .45 to load hot just as you desire to do, I only had one suitable powder (lil'gun) but didn't want to use it due to some concerns about it being rough on revolver topstraps, so I had to buy more powder. Due to the shortage the only thing readily available were VV powders. I got a good supply of VV N110 but found precious little data to guide me. I ended up getting a friend to run some loads through quickload for me; his results meshed very well with what little data I did find published, so I have used it with good success.

Ill admit I should have mentioned I wanted to shoot 2400 powder. I did search google but I put in ruger only 45 colt data which might have been the problem.

Thanks Daniel for the info. That will help me get to my goal of around a 1100 fps 255gr SWC load to hunt with.

My Hornady and Sierra manuals have a Ruger data section right after the standard pressure 45 Colt data.

After jumping all over everyone it now comes out. Hornady, Speer has data. Loads for the 250-260 gr bullet has been written about since Elmer Keith.
Data is out there.
