To convert a standard 1911 to long slide and barrel configuration, is it a matter of simply changing out the parts and making sure everything is functioning properly or is there more to it than that? If so what all is entailed in the conversion?
Generally speaking, are the slides for the regular frame 1911 interchangeable with the slides for the wide body frames? In other words, for example, could I install a Fusion long slide and barrel on a Rock Island wide body/high cap frame?
Can someone recommend a good book that covers the esoteric side of modifying the 1911? I have plenty of the usual 1911 repair and maintenance books and they don't cover much of anything out of the ordinary.
