I used to have a bullet puller, the collet type used in a press. It has become lost, can't find it.

I do, however, still have three collets for it. I would like to get another one like it so I can use the collets I have.

Can anyone look at the picture of the collets below and tell me what brand of puller would use them? I THINK the puller was a Forrester, or it may have been a Herters, don't remember.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Well curiosity got the better of me and I had to pull it out of the closet. Mine has no identifiable makers mark on it but it uses the collets in the picture.

I guess I was wrong, it has what looks like a vibratory etched serial number on the part that gets screwed down on top of the collet, serial number H128678 but I'm at a loss as to what it actually means..

I did some searching and mine looks just like this.

The collets look just like the collets my Forster Bullet Puller uses.

Hope this helps.

I just pulled my Herters out and the collects look identical. I think the Herters was made by Forster, the die body is black and looks just like the Forster pic in Grumpa's ebay pic.

Iowa Fox,
That's interesting about the Herters. I know Herters Had various companies make their items. I bought a lot of Herters stuff back in the day, and mine could well have been Herters.

Thanks for the post.

They sure look like the Forster Bullet Puller I have.
One question, do you remember if the pulled bullits stick in it every 3rd or 4th one. I made an Mod of mine that takes care of this. I made the same Mod for a friend and he loved it. I can post a picture of it if that would help when you replace your lost one.

I think that was the problem I was having with it, and.....that's why it's been buried in the closet.

I modified my Forster too but no pictures needed. I drilled a hole in the center of the cap that tightens the collet and put a 16d nail through the hole. When tension is released and the bullet does not fall out, tap the nail with a hammer.

Steve, use your lathe to make the "poper" and get a tight fit (+- .405) and concave the face of the 1/4" bolt you use. That centers the bullit and it take very little pressure to pop it out in your hand. The spring I use I got like 10 of them for less than $2 at Emco. Hope that it works out for you, there are only 2 of these I have make, one for a friend and the one I have. They have worked well for both of us. Let me know what you think after you get it working and good shooting. Martin

whistlepig1,
I used the puller last night and it worked fine, pulled all the bullets exceptforone, which I had to do with the old "pliers in the die hole" trick. Didn't mark the bullet much.

I haven't done the mod yet, but will soon.

Thanks,
Steve
