Stopped at a local pawn shop today looking for a 357 Handi Rifle.
They didn't have one, but they did have a Handi Rifle in 45-70 for 200 bucks.
I almost pulled out the check book, but alas, my reasonable side took over.
Must find something to occupy my mind for a day or two!

Check the ser. number and make sure it's new enough for the barrel assesory program. Then buy the .45-70 and send it back and have a .357 barrel fitted... win, win.:)

You can buy a brand new one for about $250. There was an ad in the newspaper last weekend (here in Virginia) for Handi-Rifles on sale for $219!

I'd trade my 357maxi with brass and dies for a 45/70. wish it were that simple. the 357 is an SB1 :(.

Its a SB2 frame :)
I was surprised how shallow the rifling appeared in it.

Is it used? Id offer about $180 for it. I have had several handy rifles, and seveesl earlier models including a H&R 157 30/30 with a full stock. I have loved them all. I currently have a 270 and a rifled 12ga.
