Back in the day when the original Winchester 1876 .45-75 was still being made, IDEAL manufactured a 350 gr. mold for that chambering. The mold number was #456192. Lyman continued making this mold, calling it the #457192 up until the mid 1970's, when it was discontinued.

This was also the same bullet used in the W.R.A. CO. .45-70-350 cartridge.

The #457192 is the same design as the current #457122 except that it is a solid bullet and does not have the hollow point that the #457122 does.

Since there seems to be a general interest in the .45-75, I contacted a friend of mine who is a Lyman distributor to find out if it was possible to have a small run made of the #457192 by eliminating the hollow point feature of the #457122.

He inquired and found that Lyman would make a run if they received an order from him for a minimum of 25 molds.

If you would be interested in obtaining one of these single cavity molds, the price would be $65.00 + shipping.

Please email me: w30wcf@adelphia.net if you would be interested.

If I receive at least 25 requests, I will forward you his email address and he will take things from there.

Thank you for your interest.

I just put a plug in my Gould mould rather than the HP device. I doesn't take much to make one and the bullets come out fine.

Not trying to squelch a group buy but from what a cousin tells me, the Gould bullet (457122) works just fine in the 1876.

Of course, feeding a lever gun with a single cavity HP mold might be a bit of a chore!

KCSO,
Good idea. I've done that myself. For folks that would be interested in a mold without the hollow point, this special order would be just the ticket.

Mayor,
The current Lyman 457122 is a 330 gr. hollow point mold. The 457192 is the same as the 457122 but without the hollow point.

I undertsand (as I have an older #457192) I guess I just cornfused myself (musta been too many Shiner Bocks!).
If your gonna delete the Hollow Point Mandrel, why not ask for a 2 cavity mould?

I bet you could have Bernie at Old West make you one of these in 2, 3 or 4 cavity.
