Hello all, I have a question for the forum. I have an Argentine Mauser action that I want to put a barrel on and I am looking for a good cartridge that I can shoot cast boolits. I would prefer it to be a standard length cartridge. I will use this rifle for hunting Alaska size game. I already have a .375 Ruger and a .35 Whelen so I am thinking of something in the .40 caliber range. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

If your 'Argentine Mauser' is an '09, how 'bout a .458 American?

411 Hawk. I've always wanted one. Or even a 375!

Guys, thanks for your ideas. This will give me a good start for some research. Yes Bill, it is an '09 action.

The 35 Whelen is a factory loading worth considering--plenty of molds floating around and ample power for anything, saving perhaps the big bears, though I submit that a 250 grain bullet at 2400 FPS placed well should settle the hash of most any bear that walks the earth today. Brass is easily made from 30-06 casings.
