Just to do the right thing, you should send that gun back home. To be on the safe side, maybe you should send it as far north as you can, I can provide a fairbanks address to help you out. lol

You don't see those come up very often, I would hang on to it, if it was mine.

sav300, sounds like fun!! Great ol' caliber and great ol' gun to work with. I look forward to hearing the progress reports. Oh, and if it gets to be too much, it is cheaper to ship to Idaho than it is to Alaska. JW

I am so jealous! I love Savage 99s and now with one coming soon in .303, have five of them. The .32-40s are rare, enjoy it and please post some reports of how it shoots.

As I am stuck at home with double vision,I decided to clean the barrel.
Several strokes with a brush soaked with solvent and clean till the patch is clean, then repeat again!
Good bore for age, maybe the better part of the rifle.

Making brass from 30-30 till I get some star line long 38-55 brass. The mold is a CBE 321 160pb.
Till My eyes are good, no powder will be added.

Those are pretty darn rare. I've seen about 2 in 40+ years of going to gun shows. I have never seen a carbine in that caliber. You guys down under have some neat stuff stashed away.

To hell with bad vision,am taking the 32-40 to the range tomorrow for a shot or two.
Load is 16.5gns of adi 2207 and a CBE 160gn pb boolit.

Should be a pleasant load to shoot. Could you possibly post a pic or two of the rifle? I'd like to see it.

Ok,made it to the range.Hmmm, those 50yd targets look like 100 yds.
Set up and fired the first round,no recoil and dust over the top.Bummer clean miss! Check sights and yes the elevator is in backwards. Second shot hit low,but on paper, yea.Fired the rest of the cases and retired the 32-40 to the rear bench.
The brass is resized 30-30.
