Hmm. First post where you got me to say "boolit", I must be slipping further down hill. Anyways, Having finally started to enjoy some moderate success with Chargers 311291 GB mould in my Savage 219 30-30, I have decided to try some cast in a very nice 03A3 I picked up last summer. I have fired a total of 5 rounds of jacketed, (sorry J-word), bullets in it. My question is, everyone seems to size in the .310" range for their Springfields, I just loaded one round with the 311291's sized to my normal .312", and it chambers fine. I am thinking having it fit closer to the chamber neck is best, regardless of bore size, (which incidentally I do not know.) I am loading 16 grains of 2400, does anyone see a problem with leaving the boolits this large? Thanks. Oh, rifle is a Smith Corona, 0-43 barrel date.

Ricochet, from any one else, this might seem odd. From you, well... not so much![smilie=1:

Thanks!

As for the question, if the cartridges loaded with .312" boolits chamber easily, they're fine.

Dubber, I shoot the 314299 in my 03A3 scoped sporter. Shoots great.

Fill the throat as best you can, the bbl will swage the boolit. If it works, keep doing it. One of my very best loads for an 'as issued' 03A3 is the SAECO 301 run thru a .311 die to size and lube. It shoots great, too. My favoritest charge for 180-200 gr boolits is 21.0/4227.

Anyone wanna 'splain Richochet??? Did I miss sumthin?

Sundog, thanks for the reply, I will try the 4227. I just bought a pound for something, but can't remember for what now! I better write it down before I forget again!

I regularly shoot 314299 and C312-185-R sized at .312 in my '03s. I haven't cast any yet from the GB 311291 but I supect if it drops at .312 I will leave at that size. I prefer to shoot the bullets as large as possible if they cast that way. As long as the bullet is a slip fit into a fired neck I will shoot them. I think it's better to let the throat size them down that to do it before shooting them.
