Would one of these handle 32-20 loads?

In a word; no.

The solid frame models are pretty weak, and the take-down models are weaker still.

I wouldn't chamber a take-down model in anything over .32 S&W (short) or the solid frame model in anything more than the .32 S&W long.

These were Remington's better answer to the boys .22 and as such they worked well and gave good service. Many were in the 32 rimfire but even these simply are not strong enough for the 32-20.

32 long with a slightly warm load launched the breach block. And it was a nice clean rifle,once.......
