Im gonna start shooting this boolit out of a 38 model 14,and a 357 model 586.

See what 5.0 Unique does first, and then use that load as a baseline. ... felix

I've used 3.5 grains of Bullseye in my Colt Officers Models for 35 years. Makes everyone that shoots them look good.

2.8gr of CLAYS works great for my 686

3.5 gr BE give excellent accuracy in my S&W Mod 15-2

I use 4.2/BE with my H&G #39. Runs just a hair under 900 fps out of my 6" 14. Listed as a max standard pressure load in Lyman Cast handbook #3 for the 358311.

Bullseye works verygood with low and higher velocity loads in the 38.

Just saying, what your powder charges you are loading for a .38spl. CLAYS doesnt have a wide range for .38spl. Its a great clean and accurate powder. Ive been using it for years in a few different calibers.

I used to load that bullet with 4.5 grains of Unique in .38 cases and remember it being a good shooting load. A single cavity 358311 was the first bullet mold I bought for me just purchased Security Six. I still have both.

That boolit has performed well with several different powders over the years. I ended up using 4.2gr of universal clays for a 38spl load & 4.7gr of universal clays for a p+ load. Both loads had outstanding accuracy & the p+ load printed about an inch lower in a 6" 586.

I have fired many thousand of the 311358 design and find it to be very accurate. A charge of 3 to 3.5 Bulleye has always produced good results for me. The 3.5 load is a good duplicate for the old service load and shoots to the sights of older Smith and Wesson and Colt sixguns.

I keep a Lyman 55 measure set up for 3.5/BE and use it as my standard charge for the 38 Special under a variety of bullets. This should work well for you with this bullet of 8 bhn. alloy.

I've had good luck with the already-mentioned 3.5 gr. Bullseye load, but also 4.3 or 4.5 gr. 231; about the same as the Bullseye load from an accuracy perspective, but with slightly more speed.

I am with the 4.5 to 4.7 grs of Unique crowd. 5.0 grs might be a bit much in my opinion.
