When I started casting in the early 90`s, the first mould I bought was found at the Creekside gunshop here in NYS.
It was a very old 358425 single cavity w/o the box. So old that it had the flat block faces, no horizontal vent lines.
It does have self scribed vent lines by the previous user. When I went from bottom pour efforts to the ladle it gave very good results.
Was planning to move out some SC moulds here, and while compiling a list to post and confirm details, I noticed something amiss.

My late 70`s Cast Bullet Hadbook shows the 358425 drops either 112gr or 121gr boolits. Looking at my samples from the mould it was
obvious that they are not the lighter 112gr version. Flipped back to page number 219, I see what I have...a 358101 mould. Weighed my
samples and they do in fact weigh 75grs. I never did shoot any from the mould, it was shelved and forgotten till now.

I wonder how often something like this occured?

Scott :

I have a Lyman single cav. .30 cal. mold that is
marked 311291. Problem is , the bullet that drops from the mold weighs 218 grains, not the 170 grs. ( + or - ) that the 311291 should weigh. It is a 311290.

Lyman did mis-identify molds on occasion. You and I own examples .
