What bullets are being used for deer? I would like to see pictures of any recovered if possible.
I've been shooting 370-385 gr in my Ranger but I know (I think) most are using bullets in the 250 range hunting. I like Roachcreek, sort of prefer the heavies but now I'm ready to hunt.
The bullet I've been using is cast from an alloy approaching lyman #2 and is a bore rider. I know...everybody says shoot a soft alloy but this rifle just loves this bullet cast hard. It shoots great in my gun but if I cast it with a softer alloy like 20:1 the nose is just too loose in the bore. As is, it's too hard for the 0.260" meplat it has and would probably just punch a small hole through a deer.
So..I have collected all kinds of 45 molds over the years and was wondering what bullets you hunters are having the most luck with!
