Well this nice Northern Wisconsin Whitetail fell victim to a Boolit from the 375 GNR #2 aka "Bad Medicine" (45-70 necked down to 375) The load was a RCBS FP GC at 2100 FPS it anchored this fine animal the lungs and heart were destroyed the hole you see in the pic is entrance the exit behind the opposite shoulder was about 3-4". This buck was 170 lbs dressed out.

Nice going. Tell us some more about the gun. Is it a lever or a ss?

The gun is a conversion from Gary Reeder Custom guns. The gun was a 45-70 Marlin guide gun originally. The action is slicked up and re barreled with laminated stocks and a scout scope 2.5 power. It also has XS peep and post. The barrel has deep dish crown. The receiver has really nice game scenes on it and the overall length of the gun is the same as a 10-22 so real handi rifle. This pic is blurry but it was cold and I wanted to get that thing out as I had 1.3 mile drag ahead of me. I will add that this gun loves the cast bullet it was close to Lyman #2 but slightly harder but shot under 1" at 75 yards.

The gun is awesome first off I love lever guns secondly it is all that lever gun should embody

Quick handling
Powerful
Easy to shoot
Easy to carry
Shoot heavy cast boolits well.
Looks good too that is not requirement but certainly well received.

Greetings and Congradulations !
Thanks for taking the time to write all this with photos. Over a mile drag is more than I care to do. That has to be an interesting cartrdge to lever about. Feed should be flawless.

Thanks everyone.

Yes the gun feeds those bullets smooth as silk.

I might also add this is loaded down the gun can probably push that 250 grain just a hair over 2400 FPS of course no need for that unless one is chasing the big bears.

Skinned this deer the RCBS FP was devastating the exit was 3.55" with two ribs missing that much of each. No wonder the lungs were so destroyed with a rib hit on entrance. Hard cast flat points running 2100 FPS is very effective.

You will really like this gun I have had great success with boolits in the gun and recently added a Mihec HP mould for this fine weapon for Elk you can load it up to great power. For whitetail a 220-250 grain cast boolit is more than adequate for deer and easier on you and the shoulder. Good luck with your gun let us know how it goes.

Sounds like a pretty cool cartridge. Probably too much gun for TX whitetail but in my book that's just about right, lol.
