This is my first Accurate mould purchase and i am very happy they way boolits turned out. Mould is a single cavity aluminum mould part #36-135A. After my first casting all bullets are concentric with no offset and weigh within .3 tenth gram of each other. Using Lyman #2 alloy the unsized bullets measure .3585 at bands. The Lyman gas checks slip on easily and are locked on tight when sized. Tom says this is his personal .357 bullet.

Bullets in pictures weigh 137 grains with gas check. I cannot wait to shoot them:)

These test bullets were cast using the ladle. NO culls after mould got up to temp. Melt temp was 700 degrees. Sprue plate is very sharp and cuts very smooth with no raised spots.

I mean, mine come out good... Just frosty. And I run my melt at 690°. Keep mold pre heated to a bit over 300° on a hotplate. Could be my alloy, but it shoots good. Probably 70% WW / 25%PB / 5%SN (Can't wait to melt it together to get my Homogenous on, then get metals test). I Want mine to look like yours.

Sounds like your mould is too hot to begin with. Preheat mould to cooler temp 200, then work up. Bullets may start out with wrinkles and rounded bands, but should start filling out well when sweat spot is found. No more frosting.

I hope your thermometer is accurate...

I have 2 of them. Tom at Accurate Molds is the go to guy. Both brass . Had Tom made a clone of the Lyman 314299 for my American Enfield with 5 grove barrel.True .314 mold. American Enfield is .310.5 -.311 .

Well, I know too cool and they are very shiny, but, have a wrinkle here and there. Once the frostiness starts they looks great (except for the frostiness).

Turn up the pot temp 750 and cast at slower pace. Reduce preheat temp also. Some moulds are just easier to cast with than others and require different methods. A ladle works better sometimes than bottom pour etc.

I bet i can produce good bullets with your alloy and mould, but it may be difficult at first to find sweet spot

what diameter did you have him cut the mold at?

i have funding set asside and i designed my own mold and tom added it to his catalog,

the only reason i have not yet bought yet is because i wasnt sure waht diameter to get.

I specified .358 diameter using Lyman #2 alloy on order form (bullets fall at .3585). Mould has 358 stamped on side. I use a .357 Lee sizing die and alloy springs back to .3575 at bands and .358 at gas check (measurements taken with micrometer)

Be sure to specify bullet diameter and the alloy you plan to use on ordering page .

did you slug your cylinders to arrive at this measuremt?

I used a pin gauge. The .3570 size pin gauge has a snug slip fit in cylinder face. The .3575" size bullet is a NO GO

Pistol is a S&W 686. It seems to like lighter weight bullets. It loves the RCBS 147gr 9mm bullet (.3580 size as cast). I hope this new Accurate bullet shoots better

looks as though Tom has not slowed down any
he will get you what you want looks like his "F" series of boolits
when I order a mold I always order .001-.002 over the size I want because I size my boolits to my gun when I lube

I picked up 2 molds from Tom and I too have been very happy with them, He basically got my old Model 94 SRC hitting the paper again. I even took it out hunting this fall but didn't get the chance to pull the trigger with it. The only thing I regret is that he doesn't make anything smaller than 30 cal. I was going to get him to make me a 6.5 mold. Picked up a Lyman instead and it is ok. I don't think you can go wrong with an Accurate Mold. Tom is a Prince of a man too.

Further amazing things about Accurate Molds are: the uniformity of bullets from multi cavity molds, the ease with which the bullets drop from the mold when at operating temperature and the incredibly short delivery time. You are hooked now, my friend.

I have 2-3 accurate molds, they are top notch. Fast delivery and great customer service also. You can have him do a custom design for you and have it within a week or two. I don't know how some of you guys do group buys and wait 12+ months for something you can have Tom make you right now.
