I picked up a nice New Vaquero 7.5 inch barrel 45 Colt stainless. What are the chances of having Ruger fit a 45 ACP cylinder to it. I know the make some with both cylinders.

You need to ask Ruger that question. They have gone both ways (yes and no) over the years.

What I have always heard is if the model gun in question was at some point offered with a convertible cylinder they would do. But I also have never asked them to but I have bought acp cylinders that were a drop in fit

Where do you find cylinders at

I have found them on gun broker rugerforum classifieds eBay gun shows but they all are not a guaranteed to be a drop in fit. You need to know the length if your cylinder and in my experience guns produced in the same time period have a better chance of fitting your gun

But it is a better idea to have Ruger fit it to your gun and in the long run can be much chesper

I shot it yesterday about 20 times shoots 5.6 gr RD and the LEE 230 TL maybe a little low. But it's a sweet shooter with the 7.5 barrel. Don't need the ACP just thought it would be nice I'll call Ruger Next wee.
Thanks

The acp cylinder is nice if you have a bunch of acp brass but as you've seen not at all necessary they ate fun if you get a chance I'd get one

most rugers have enough slop to allow fitting. Ive not done it with a 45acp but do have a 4440 cylinder and it drops right in all my 44 mag guns without a bit of problem.

Ruger uses some very close machine tolerances to cut way down on hand fitting of parts. Most recent cylinders will drop to another revolver on the same frame.

When buying cylinder on the used market, the OP need to make certain what he is buying, as the Blackhawk/Vaquero cylinders won't interchange with the New Vaquero/Flatop cylinder due to different frame/cylinder sizes.

I have a Vaquero (now referred to as old) in 45 Colt and would love to have a 45 ACP cylinder for it just for the convenience. My first vaquero is a convertible of sorts, 38-40 with a 40 S&W cylinder. For that'd like to get another cylinder chambered in 10 mm. That would be way cool

I know when i was younger we had several of the single sixes, be only one mag cylinder, and we used it in all of the guns

What or you folks shooting in your 45 colts? Mine shoots 5.6 of Red Dot and a LEE 230 a foot low at 25 yards. I don't "want" to file the front sight.

My New Vaquero in stainless was also shooting very low, maybe 6-7 inches at 25 yards. I did end up filing the front site a small amount, getting it to maybe an inch low. I'm using the Lee 452-255-FP. They are weighing about 258-260 grains. I have several loads I'm playing with but the latest is 6.5 of Bullseye. I've also loaded up to 12.5 grains of Blue Dot and 35 grains of FFF.
