Figured I'd share a "pet load" that everyone is probably already aware of.

H&G 68
5gr Red Dot
50/50 lube

This has to be my all time favorite load for 45ACP. It feeds in everything, is reliable in everything, and so far is accurate in everything. When I say everything I mean everything that I own in 45ACP. Shown below is my latest, a used but not abused Astra A80.

I just did a little shooting in the field behind my house, this load never fails to impress me.
So far this load has proven itself in the following:
RIA 1911
2 Springfield "loaded" 1911's
Springfield XDM
Beretta PX4
CZ 97

and now an Astra A80.
I'm hooked.

I use same bullet and 5.0 Bullseye. Same results. Going to drop to 4.5-4.2 and see what happens... But the bullet is awesome.

I use the lee tl clone and 5 gr of Bullseye. Shoots very well and I can produce lots of bullets fast.

If I ever get a master caster a #68 mold will be one of the first I get.

Same here, except I like 231 a little better. High price of ammo 2 yrs ago forced me to order the Lee mould and pull the cover off my retired Dillon. Cast and loaded 2,000 rounds in two weekends.

4.2 grains of Bullseye gives 2.5" groups a 50 yds off of sand bags.
From a custom 1911.

One of the most accurate loads I've ever shot is that boolit over 4.0 R.D.

Same boolit but in a 6 cavity SAECO. Likewise it works very well in everything I've shot it from though this alloy is pretty expensive shooting.

Agreed as I use it quite often for target loads as well. Drops too much for 50 yard shots though :guntootsmiley:

I like it, too. 'cept I use 231. I shoot 9m and 38 and I just kinda' got in the habit of using 231 cause it works well in all three cartridges. I use 231 in my 380, too.
