Some pics from this summers 1,000 yrd match in Tri-Cities WA. Good times! 100 degrees though! I barely had 50 rounds threw the gun with very little load development and never had shot in a competitive match let alone at a distance of 1,000 yrds. Those 50 rounds was the extent of my 50 cal shooting experience too. :) Dad was shooting 750 grain A-max and I was shooting 808 grain Lehigh solid brass bullets. We both used the same gun shot prone. Hope in 2014 to be shooting some of my own bullets in one of these matches.

Here is a look at my gun. I got a heavier bi-pod then what is shown. The Harris just isn't up to the 32lb weight of the gun.

Nice shootin! Looks like a great time! Have not shot mine at that distance yet, but it never disappoints when the hammer drops.

It's 10 above, white outside, and your pictures blew a bit of summer this way.
Looks like great day at the range, favorable wind, and nice shooting.
Was the match for 50 BMGs, or did you just take a 50 to a 1000 yard match?

yeah, match for 50s. would have been a better group had it been one group instead of two :) Yep it was HOT that weekend.

Good shooting, 1K is hard to do in calm wind, here in OK we tend to have it from multi-direction which just adds to the fun no matter the caliber.

That's a boom stick! What type of rifle is it?

34" Fedderson barrel on a McMillan single shot action that I bedded in a Savage Choate stock just for the fun of it. Got a Sightron SIII scope on top of it that I really like.

Here is a look at some of the machine work I did to a solid 1x1x10 piece of aluminum to use as a mounting block to meld with the existing aluminum bedding block in the stock.

After everything was fitted I glued it all in place and bedded it with Devcon steel putty. Turned out pretty good.

I have my eyes on a Safety Harbor 50 BMG upper for the AR platform. Will be ordering it with 29" fluted barrel. And, because I don't like their standard blast deflector (otherwise called a flash hider/compensator), I will buy an Armalite version and have them install that.

I'm going for the SHTF50 Mag Fed:

It's a pretty cheap way to get into 50 BMG. I already have the reloading press and dies, and a group buy mold for casting 800+ grain linotype bullets. Would LOVE to get some way to swage bullets for this thing, and I know at least one other person who would jump on it. So, keep me posted, Brian, as this develops.
