Next on the list: Lead thermometer. LGS doesn't sell 'em. Dammit. Otherwise, I'd be firing that puppy up tonight, even if it IS nearly 10:00pm AND I have to go to work in the morning at 5:00am. :D

Next pics will, hopefully, be of a raft of new boolits!

Most importantly, Accurate Molds (Tom, I believe), sent the mold in record time and, as with all quality products, packaged everything with more than enough cushioning to keep everything safe and sound.

Thanks for the outstanding service!

thermometer?
eyeball the color of the castings as they come out of the mold.
wrinkly/shiney = more heat in the mold
oxidized funny whitish= to hot cool the mold down or slow up.

grey galvanized look after cooling down a bit and well formed boolits= keep on doing what you are doing and count one more second in your head.

Since nobody locally carries a lead thermometer (that I can find, yet), I'm gonna do exactly that! :D

thermometers weren't used way back in the day.
I have one plus the PID temp readout and like to know temp but cast for many years without one

Thermometers are pretty to look at but not even remotely a critical
item. Didn't have one for the first 20 yrs, used it a couple of times and
haven't had it out of the box in more than 10 yrs.
You don't actually care what the temp is, each mold will require a bit
different casting rhythm and slight pot temp adjustment sometimes,
but you get this from the condition of the castings, not from a meter.
