Today was my 1st opportunity to shoot the 2" Taurus 44 Special, Nope, it isn't for sale..................

7 yards, 5 rounds in each target.
I fired 2 groups and photographed both.

This is exactly what I had hoped the revolver would do. Load is 44 Spec., SAECO 200 gr. SWC, sized .431" with Clays , CCI 300 primers.

I'm a happy camper ! !

When I'm out late at night with this one, it should be a good friend.

How much Clays?

The load was 3.8 grs. of Clays with the SAECO # 446 , 200 gr. cast with ACWW's and sized .431", with Ben's Red lube.

I like the wide meplat for self defense, much like a wadcutter.

At the distances that might be required for self defense with this revolver , this load really shines :

I have never discounted the accuracy of a short barreled handgun after being in a silhouette match with a guy shooting a Jennings .22 and he came in 4th place.
He would have come in at 3rd place but two of the rams he hit did not fall over.
Good shooting Ben.

It was only 7 yards, but I can't conceive shooting this 2" belly gun at distances much farther than that.

It should be a fight stopper !

I don't think that a car jacker is going to fare very well with this one............

The guy doing the shooting was a master at pistol craft.
When he shot that match it was to satisfy a bet with another guy.

The guy's name was Danny Wink. the was truly a master with any kind of handgun.
He could almost always clear a table of bowling pins in just under 2 seconds.
I saw him sweep falling plates at or around 1.4-1.5 seconds.
He was good at bullseye shooting as well, but his best shooting was at fast, timed or moving targets.

His gun of choice was always the 1911 45 acp. or a High Standard for rimfire.
He could have competed nationally and was often encouraged to but turned his nose up to the idea.

I'm privileged to say I knew him, he died at the age of 43 with a heart attack.
