Abby has a way with animals. Big or small she is an animal magnet. Always has been from very early on. Our neighbour has an "urban huntaway sheep dog" named Zues and that was Abby's first word. Won the neighbour over on the spot. Here she is this evening with Sam. What you can't see at her feet, under the covers is Sam's brother Frodo. Sam just adores her.

Every child needs a pet. It's teaches them more than you can imagine and they always have a friend.

I predict that little girl will one day be a vet.

JeffinNZ,
Sam just adores her.

What's not to love? She'll be a life saver to the critters and a heart breaker to the boys.

It has always seemed to me that animals are the best judges of human character.

There is something about little girls and animals. When my oldest daughter was 2 years old we lived on a small lake that had a lot of domesticated ducks and geese. Most of these aren't what you would call tame, but they weren't wild either. She walked around all the time carrying ducks, that seemed like they were half as big as she was, and most people couldn't even get close to them.

Best thing you can do for that dog is find him some animals to herd. They got LOTS of energy and herding is about the only thing that puts enough work on them to exercise them.

Oh she gets enough exercise Dave. She's just young. My wife keeps forgetting it's been 17 years since we had a puppy around. Trust me Jeff....I'd love to have her around...we always get along with kids...smiles.

Not just exercise. Border Collies are bright, and want to WORK. (Unlike half of our human population.) My friend Helen trained hers for agility competition, just to keep the dog mentally occupied. They get bored easily, and can be very hard to manage when they do.

If it's hot, have a kiddie pool handy, they are cold weather dogs and need to cool down.
