Today I tried for the first time a mold 6 cavity lee 452-230 tc, at the beginning I did not understand that speed of work needed, later, when I learned, it works very very fast, I'm really pleased with him.:lol:87937879388793987940

good to hear from you again beppe.

you did figure out the Lee 6 cavity molds correctly, they need heat, and speed is the best way to get and keep it.

When I have mine all working nicely it doesn't take long to empty a 20 pound lead pot! I use my "old" 10lb pot to pre melt now and it goes a lot faster.

true! I also use a lee 20LB pot, and last night I emptied half pot in 30 minutes, and I'm a newbie!

I've got the mold and it's baby brother for the 9mm, when I first started with it I was not impressed but once I got it figured out (yep keep it Hot) it drops some nice boolits. Cut the sprue about as soon as you see the top solidify and you wont break the sprue handle. :)

I have the same mold and it has worked great. I've casted a bunch of bullets with it. My only complaint is the sprue cutting method. I'd almost rather whack it with a mallet as I have to use the mallet to tap the screw for the bullets to release anyway. I still don't know why my bullets aren't dropping free.

my bullets all fall on their own, almost always all ... even if the alloy, when I used it, it was too hot.this is the result of today.8796787968

Looks like your process is working well, congrats!

creature look the mold cavity's over carefully.
you might have a little mis-alignment in the halves or a few small burrs somewhere in the cavity's.
you can find burrs with a Q-tip.

a light lapping of the cavitys with some tooth paste with a little baking soda mixed in would really help the boolits drop free.

Runfiverun, I figured, well, I'll do a thorough check of all the cavities, I had too much excitement last night, I heated the mold and I started thinking about nothing.at the beginning they were not released, but later, I must say that I have not had any major problems.thanks for your advice, because someone says they do not need to smoke the mold before using when he is new.

My favoriate mold for the 45 ACP. Heat is your friend and keep up the pace.

My 6 cav all run the same... Preheat then pour.. 5 second wait for cool of spure (if more is needed cool your mold)... Cut sprue dump... Wait 5 sec... Drop boolits... Wait 5 sec... Repeat. Keeps my boolits all perfect and no frost. 'Tis nice.

I love my TL452-230-TC. The heavy boolits fall out of the mold with hardly a shake and once I get into the "groove", the mold stays nice and hot for a good fill out.

Less than 2 hours on Sunday produced these:

I learned, as probably a lot of casters did, that using a 6 cavity takes a learning curve. I, like a lot of first time users, broke the sprue plate by trying to knock the sprue off when the mold was actually still cold. I decided to pre-heat the mold first then start by pouring only 1 cavity for a few casts. I then advanced to filling a second cavity along with the first for a few casts and so on till I was filling all 6 cavaties with no problem knocking the sprue lever around. Haven`t broke another sprue plate since doing this heat up method. Robert
