In the market for this mould and I see they about a wash for price. So I believe the NOE is true to Elmers design but the Lyman is a cast iron mould. Experiences, recommendations?

NOE makes bullet moulds. Lyman produces product to fill SKU numbers.

I've got that NOE mold and it is my general purpose do anything boolit for that caliber. It's really fun with a light load at 38 specials velocity. Cheaper than 22lr for me right now.

NOE makes bullet moulds. Lyman produces undersized product to fill SKU numbers.

There I fixed it for you. NOE and don't look back.

I own 9 NOE molds.

Each is about as close to perfect in specs as is possible.

I can't even come close to saying that about Lyman molds.

For me, it is not quite that clean cut. Iron molds work better for me than aluminum. BUT, NOE is as good as it gets in aluminum, and they will cast closer to stated size in today's Antimony-poor alloys. If it were a choice between an Ideal or older Lyman and an NOE 4 banger, I'd go with the old Iron. New, I think I'd go with the NOE so I could use cheaper metal.

The NOE mold will actually drop boolits the correct size....not to mention that Al is an amaing resource that Lyman customer service can't hold a candle to.

Shot my S&W 8 3/8" barreled model 27 357 from the 200yd range @ 12" steels and was able to hit them fine with bullets from my Lyman mold. I have no issues with their product, and have found their customer service does the job.

Get the NOE 5 banger & don`t look back !

I have Lyman & IDEALS that shoot excellent , but the NOE is easier to work loads for & shoots better at lower pressures, the others like full pressure loads

My recent production Lyman cast a little on the small side for diameter. Not an issue on my NOE. The NOE may have a somewhat shorter nose to work around the length issues that accompany this bullet with .357 cases.

I'm actually coming to prefer aluminum to iron as a mold material. It gets to temperature quick and doesn't seem to have the lengthy break in period before slugs start dropping cleanly.
