Anybody ever tried i4759 in a 20 gauge ush. It works good in the 12 ush. Takes up a lot of room when building a column.

Forgot to mention that I am using a 450 grain full bore slug.

It works great in 20 ga. Start at 60gr up to 68gr.
Same proprtions of powder and bullet weight as
600gr and 90gr 4759 powder in a 12ga.Ed

Thanks for the info. I was using blue dot but that's getting hard to find. I just bought 9 lbs. of i4759 now I can use it for the 10-12-20 gauges. Thanks jason

Ed,

What velocity did you get with a 1oz fullbore 20ga slug and the 60 to 68g of I4759? I am like Jason, I can buy 4759 but I haven't see Blue Dot for sale in a long time.

With a 390 gr 54cal Minie in a 20ga wadcup
a 28" barrel about 1900 with 70 gr 4759.
In 3" plastic case, I think 3.5" case go more powder.
Never tried fullbore lighter 20 ga slugs. .. Ed

Ajay,

I always start on the low side with a new load. I find it much easier to drive a squib load out of a barrel than it is to try and epoxy a chamber back together.;-) My starter load with the 20ga, 450g fullbore slug and I4759 is 50 grains. Well that is what I loaded tonight, I am thinking of loading singles at 40 and 45 grains to start with.

I loaded a few yesterday with 50 grains i4759 with gas seal ,.125 nitro card, fed 209a primer and fold crimp in a win aa 2 3/4 hull. Primer was starting to flatten out but not to bad yet. Gonna work it up slow.

With 2 3/4 case with 4759 max will be less about 62 gr with 390gr.
WE used 90 gr with 600gr in 12ga and lab tested safe.
With 3.5" case used 95gr in NEF ok.

Don't start too light, may have squib loads..ED
