View Full Version : IMHO we NEED a new forum!

I've seen several ask for a new forum for powder coating. I frankly would appreciate one separate from the bullet lube forum. Although the PC has become the "new" interest among many, I personally see it as something akin to paper patching in that it is actually adding a jacket to the cast bullet. Since we have forums for black powder and smokeless paper patching, I see no reason a forum for the PC type coating couldn't or shouldn't be added. My 2 cents..........

It seems to be getting more popular here. I just skip over the posts on them as I have no interest in powder coating boolits ....Yet !
I do really enjoy reading on lubes and all the trials and mixes of everything in search of the perfect lube.

Edd - with the increasing number of members using/trying, your probably correct. Problem is there are several types of coatings, does each need a sub category?
My 2 cents.

Just one category: Coatings.

That would cover PC, HI-TEK, Klass Coat, etc.

I think we are just waiting for one of the techies to make it so.

Waksupi, I bet the bottom is just gonna fall right out of the loob groove business if this PC thing takes off! ;)
The new "Full Polyester Jacket" boolit won't need grooves at all! :D

It isn't one from healthcare.gov I hope

well.. it really does seem to work well... at least in pistols... but it's definitely an "epoxy jacket". Hopefully that won't become a dirty word here! ;)

Due to this unforeseen consequence, the whole idea has been scrapped!

I assume you will now have some good deals on used lube groove casting equipment, at reasonable prices of coarse. lol

".......if this PC thing takes off!"

I have news for you folks, IT HAS TAKEN OFF! I already found one commercial bullet caster who is selling PC bullets.

How about we make this a sticky!!

btroj
11-16-2013, 11:13 PM
Properly done the coating isn't sticky. It is clean, don't you know that?

I have heard that it is clean. Cast up a bunch of 40's and 45's last weekend and coated them up. I will be casting 38's, 40's, and 45's tomorrow and coating them up. I love this stuff!!

Cast them, coat them, store them, load them, shoot them.

Have I mentioned how clean they are?

Is there a sticky about clean coated bullets?

N0, but there is a sticky for stickies.

Well I'm sitting on about 75 K of Hi Tek coated boolits and am selling them.

If we have a sticky for traditional, and sticky, lubes wouldn't we want a clean for coated, non-sticky, bullets?

Good to hear you got your business up and running TES. I sincerely mean that.

Back the topic. Wait, what's the topic? I better go get a COORS to help me remember.

That works for me. It seemed to me that since there is abundant interest in the coatings, that perhaps the time had come for a separate forum for the subject...to kinda keep everything together...so to speak.

Creating another folder for coated boolits makes sense to me.

In my opinion, IF EVERYTHING IS THROWN INTO ONE BARREL (called Coatings),

We'll just have a mess for anyone trying to follow the development

of a SPECIFIC METHOD, (HI-TEK, PC ELECTROSTATIC SPRAY,

TUMBLE PC, EPOXY PAINT ETC.)

WE NEED SEPARATE SUB-SETS IN THE COATINGS FORUM.

Just my 2 Cents.

THANK YOU to the administrators for putting up this new forum!!!! IMHO, it'll make things a little more orderly. I realize it caused someone some work and I wanted to acknowledge the effort. Thanks again.

It is great the moderators and staff listen to us peons.
